It’s been a number of years since we held a Christmas service of remembrance to bring families who’ve lost loved ones together, but this Sunday we’ll be gathering one again – and everyone is invited.
Taking place at St Mary’s Church, Greasley, at 4.30pm this Sunday, our remembrance service is open to all of our families we’ve worked with this year, plus familiar faces from years gone by.
Not only will there be the chance to light a candle in someone’s memory, everyone is welcome to bring a single flower along to the service, where our florists will combine them all into a remembrance tribute while the event is underway.
Joanne Hutsby, a partner at Gillotts Funeral Directors, said: “Our service has been very successful down the years and we’re very pleased to be able to hold it once again.
“Christmas is the time when families feel their loss most acutely, whether because there’s an empty space at the Christmas table or one less pile of presents under the tree.
“We want to bring people together to share their stories and realise that there other families in the same position, while remembering the light their loved one brought into their lives at the same time.”
Gillotts staff will also be serving refreshments after the service and everybody is welcome to stay on.
Anyone who would prefer a non-religious service is encouraged to attend a service of remembrance at Bramcote Crematorium tonight (Friday December 2) at 6pm or a service being held at Amber Valley Crematorium on December 19 at 7pm.
